O Bahia World Jazz Festival é uma fonte de estímulos para a criatividade artística e intercâmbios culturais em Salvador - Bahia - Brasil. A iniciativa inclui um festival de música, conferências e workshops com mestres de jazz nacionais e internacionais. O Bahia World Jazz Festival é concebido com o reconhecimento e valorização da contribuição importante do Brasil para o jazz e seu papel crítico no desenvolvimento da música contemporânea mundial. O festival toma como ponto de partida a reputação da grande cidade de Salvador como o berço da música contemporânea brasileira.

O Bahia World Jazz Festival terá o seu lançamento dentro do contexto do Mercado Cultural Latinoamericano trazendo diversas apresentações de jazz. Além dos shows, teremos conferências/demonstrações apresentadas pelos artistas que farão palestras sobre as diversas vertentes sociais da música como história, relações de negócios, pesquisa e técnicas de ensaios, além de discutir o estado atual do jazz no Brasil e no mundo.

Esta iniciativa é uma parceria entre a Casa Via Magia, a International Center for African Music and Dance da Universidade de Gana e a Universidade de Pittsburgh.

Bahia World Jazz Festival

The Bahia World Jazz Festival is an international breeding ground for artistic creativity and cross-cultural exchanges in Salvador, Brazil. The event includes a festival, conferences and workshops by national and international musicians. It was created in recognition and valuation of Brazil’s important contribution to jazz and the critical role it has played in the development of contemporary world music.

Hosted by the City of Salvador, with its reputation as the cradle of contemporary Brazilian music, the Bahia World Jazz Festival will be launched within the context of the I Latin American Cultural Market and will present national and international jazz masters. Besides musical presentations, events such as conferences, workshops and demonstrations are scheduled in which the participating artists will discuss social aspects of music such as history, business relations, research and rehearsal techniques and the development of jazz in Brazil as well as the state of jazz music worldwide.

The Bahia World Jazz Festival is a partnership between Casa Via Magia, the International Center for African Music and Dance at the University of Ghana, and the University of Pittsburgh.
