Nascida em 1964 em Baku, Azerbaidjan (antiga União Soviética), Amina Figarova começou a tocar piano com dois anos e a compor com três. Estudou no “Conservatório Estadual de Baku”, formando-se como pianista clássica e professora. Participou de muitos concertos e concursos na USSR, ganhando seu primeiro prêmio em 1987. Em seguida a Rádio Internacional de Moscou emitiu um programa sobre sua música. Foi neste momento que Amina inciou seus estudos em jazz. Em 1992, foi estudar no Berklee College of Music em Boston estudando com Laslo Cardony, Ed Tomassi, Danillo Perez, Brad Hatfield, entre outros. Na Holanda, gravou seu CD “Attraction” com composições originais. Em 1998, foi convidada a participar do Thelonious Monk Jazz Colony em Aspen, Colorado. Lá estudou com músicos renomados como Kenny Barron, Nathan Davis, Danillo Perez, Monty Alexander, Terence Blanchard, Jeff Hamilton, John Clayton.

Amina Figarova é uma compositora, pianista e vocalista que combina e mistura de forma convincente muitos estilos diferentes em suas músicas. Sua criação é um banquete de fusion, funk e pop com fortes influências de jazz, música latina e reggae. Amina participa anualmente de diversos festivais de jazz na Europa. Uma artista renomada de multíplos talentos, Amina Figarova é uma mulher excepcional do mundo do jazz contemporâneo.

Bart Platteau - Flauta
Nascido em Bruxellas em 1965, Bart Platteau inicou seus estudos como flautista com oito anos de idade. Estudou flauta, bateria e música de câmera no Conservatório de Bruxellas. Trabalhou como baterista clássico com o “Nationaal orkest van Belgie”, “Munt Philharmonisch orkest” e em conjuntos de música de câmara. Em seguida, fez workshops de jazz com John Ruocco e Joe Lovano. Em 1993, fez o mestrado em flauta no departamento de jazz do Rotterdams Conservatory, onde estudou com Ferdinand Povel, Dick Gout em Dick de Graaff. Em 1992 estudou no Berklee College of Music em Boston, EUA com George Garzone e Matt Marvugllio. Fez aulas particulares com Dave Valentin.

Hoje trabalha como freelance no palco e no stúdio com diferentes grupos musicais na Bélgica.
Desde 1998, é professor de flauta no departamento de jazz do Rotterdams Conservatory.

Amina Figarova - Piano 

Amina Figarova (piano) born in 1964 in Baku, Azerbaidjan (former Soviet Union), She began to play piano at the age of two, and to compose at the age of three. Later she studied at the State Conservatory of Baku, where she graduated in 1987 as a classical concert pianist. Immediately after her studies she became a teacher at the Baku Conservatory. During the following years, Amina played many concerts and competitions in the ex-Soviet Union. In 1987 she won the first prize at a competition of composers in the former USSR. In 1990 the Moskow International Radio was broadcasting a program about Amina and her music. During this period, Amina began to formally study jazz. In 1992 she went to the USA to study at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, was tutored by with Laslo Cardony, Ed Tomassi, Danillo Perez, Brad Hatfield, and many others.

Back in Holland, she recorded the CD “Attraction” with all original compositions. In 1998 she was invited to study at the Thelonious Monk Jazz Colony in Aspen, Colorado. There she studied with talented young musicians including Kenny Barron, Nathan Davis, Danillo Perez, Monty Alexander, Terence Blanchard, Jeff Hamilton, and John Clayton. Currently, Amina performs as a pianist, singer and composer, and works as a studio musician as well.The recent CD “Another Me” is a mix of funk, fusion and R & B, influenced by jazz, reggae and latin music. “... It’s a result of all influence from American music I was exposed to throughout my life...”

Bart Platteau - Flute

Bart Platteau (flute) born in Brussels, 1965. Started to play flute at the age of eight. Studied at the Brussels Conservatory for flute, percussion and chambermusic. Worked as classical percussionist with the “Nationaal orkest van Belgie”, “Munt Philharmonisch orkest”, and Chambermusic ensembles.

Followed jazzworkshops with John Ruocco and Joe Lovano. In 1993 got his Masters degree for flute, jazz department, at the Rotterdam Conservatory, where he studied with Ferdinand Povel, Dick Gout and Dick de Graaff. Studied in 1992 at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, USA with George Garzone and Matt Marvugllio. Private lessons with Dave Valentin.

Nowadays working as freelance musician on stage and in the studio, with different ensensembles in The Netherlands and Belgium.

Since 1998 teaching the flute at the jazz department of the Rotterdam Conservatory.
