EXPOSIÇÕES

Washington Santana – “O poeta do Lixo” – assim chamado por transformar lixo em obras de arte, que questionam e sugerem uma reflexão do mundo contemporâneo. O artista usa a riqueza e potencialidade do lixo como fonte de matéria-prima e inspiração para a produção artística. Na instalação “Vôo Livre”, Washington Santana fala da liberdade e do cárcere, utilizando 500 gaiolas, apreendidas pela Polícia Ambiental e outros órgãos de proteção ao meio ambiente. Com 03 metros de altura e em forma de espiral, a obra permite ao público um passeio em seu interior, até que se encontre com uma escultura de um homem “animal luz”. É uma reflexão intelectual e espiritual obre o tráfico de aves da fauna brasileira.

A execução deste trabalho conta com a participação de adolescentes de periferia, que trabalharam com Washington no Projeto Beija-Flor, uma iniciativa de cunho social, do artista, que busca o desenvolvimento de diversas atividades profissionalizantes.

Moacyr Gramacho – “Desenhar não somente imagens, desenhar relações capazes de gerar imagens”.

Desde 1987, vem desenvolvendo trabalhos onde agrega arquitetura e artes plásticas, criando figurinos, cenários, casas...

Destacou-se no figurino do longa metragem “Kenoma” ( dir. Eliane Caffé) e na peça “Divinas Palavras” (dir. Nehle Franke). Recentemente montou os cenários dos espetáculos: CO2 do Grupo Viladança e Volpone( dir. Fernando Guerreiro).

Atualmente, junto aos arquitetos Naia Alban e Márcio Campos, foram aprovados para a segunda fase do concurso internacional “La ciudad europea como modelo, historia, vigencia y projeción futura”, organizado pela prefeitura de Santiago de Compostela/Espanha.

O acesso principal da FALA fica a cargo de Moacyr, que cria uma instalação, um inusitado marco de começo e de entrada para os stands da Feira de Artes Latino-Americana.

Isabel Gouvêa – Fotógrafa, radicada em Salvador desde 1988, é formada em cinema pela Escola de Comunicação e Artes da USP. Com seu olhar poético, vem desenvolvendo trabalhos com temas diversificados como arte e educação em fotografia, junto a adolescentes de escolas públicas de Salvador, no Liceu de Artes e Ofícios e na Cipó – Comunicação Interativa. da mesma forma, temas da cultura popular baiana, em especial o “mito de Iemanjá”, tem recebido a atenção desta artista. Elabora ensaios fotográficos ligados a grupos culturais de teatro e dança da Bahia, principalmente o Balé Teatro Castro Alves. Já participou de inúmeras exposições e publicações no Brasil e exterior (Argentina, Suíça, Inglaterra, etc).

No foyer da Sala do Coro pode-se ver o ensaio fotográfico do espetáculo Volpone e na FALA – Feira de Artes Latino-Americana vemos uma retrospectiva do I Mercado Cultural.

Zenildo Barreto – artista plástico, ficou conhecido por esculpir em árvores queimadas, enriquecendo-as com adereços produzidos pela própria natureza.

No Parque das Árvores Queimadas, em Tocantins, que conta com o apoio do Ministério do Meio Ambiente e da Cablincla – Casa Baiana para a Integração Latino-Americana, o artista nos faz refletir sobre as agressões cometidas pelo homem contra o meio ambiente, em especial através de queimadas.

“A estética apresentada pelas formas das árvores esculturas no parque retrata uma beleza bizarra, que ameaça o nosso ecossistema. Uma estética que a natureza não pediu”. Todas as árvores carbonizadas utilizadas como esculturas, foram recolhidas nas áreas da Mata Atlântica e do cerrado tocantinense.

Zenildo traz um pedaço do Parque para a nossa Feira de Artes Latino-Americana e, com ele, um convite a reflexão.

CABO VERDE – UM RETRATO CRIOULO

As imagens delicadas deste artista nos falam das gentes e da terra das ilhas de Cabo Verde, na dignidade serena que sai dos retratos de vidas secas na aparência, prenhes na realidade de uma ternura e fascínio talvez únicos em todo o imaginário geográfico lusófono. A poesia das fotos a preto e branco do João Freire é a mesma que perpassa eam todos os discos de música popular caboverdiana que ele vem sonhando e depois produzindo discretamente nas últimas duas décadas, e que os distingue de todos os outros com sua mistura poética de fotografia, música e poesia.

Washington Santana – “The Trash Poet” – thus named for transforming garbage into works of art which raise questions and prompt reflection upon the contemporary world. The artist uses the richness and potential of trash as a source of raw materials and inspiration for artistic production. In the installation “Vôo Livre” (Free Flight), Washington Santana speaks of liberty and of prison, using 500 cages confiscated by the Environmental Police and others organizations which protect the environment. With a height of 3 meters and a spiral form, the work permits the audience to interact with it by strolling in it until they find a sculpture of a man “animal light”. The work spurs intellectual and spiritual reflection concerning the smuggling of Brazilian fauna.

The performance includes the participation of adolescents from the periphery, who worked with Washington on the Projeto Beija-Flor (Hummingbird Project), a social initiative in which the artist developed various professional skill-building activities.

Moacyr Gramacho – “To draw not only images, but relationships capable of generating images”. Since 1987, the artist has developed works which fuse architecture, visual arts, costumes, scenarios, houses...

The artist gained great success for the costume designs in the film “Kenoma” (dir. Eliane Caffé) and the play “Divinas Palavras” (dir. Nehle Franke). Recently he created the sets for performances CO2 by the Grupo Viladança and Volpone( dir. Fernando Guerreiro).

Currently, together with the architects Naia Alban and Márcio Campos, he was approved for the second phase of the international contest “La ciudad europea como modelo, historia, vigencia y projeción futura”, organized by the city of Santiago de Compostela/Spain.

The main access to FALA is in Moacyr’s hands, who has created an installation, an innovative entrance to the stands at the Fair of Latin American Arts.

Isabel Gouvêa – Photographer, based in Salvador since 1988, she graduated in film at the School of Communication and Arts at USP. With her poetic vision, she has since developed works with diverse themes such as art education in photography with adolescents from public schools in Salvador, at the Liceu de Artes e Ofícios and at Cipó – Interactive Communication.

Themes of popular Bahian culture, such as the “myth of Iemanjá”, have the special attention of this artist. She elaborates photographic essays in relation to theater and dance group of Bahia, particularly the Ballet Theater of Castro Alves. She has participated in inumerous exhibits and publications both in Brazil and abroad (Argentina, Switzerland, England, etc.).

At the lobby of the Sala do Coro one can see her photographic essay about the performance Volpone and at FALA – Fair of Latin American Arts is a retrospective of the I Cultural Market.

Zenildo Barreto – visual artist, who became known for sculpting burnt trees, adorning them with natural artifacts. At the Parque das Árvores Queimadas (Park of Burnt Trees), in Tocantins, which counts on the support of the Ministry of Environment and Cablincla – Bahian Casa for Latin American Integration the artist causes us to reflect upon the aggression committed by man towards the environment, especially burnt trees. “The aesthetics presented by the tree sculpture forms in the park portray a bizarre beauty which threatens our ecosystem. An aesthetics that nature did not ask for.” All carbonated trees used as sculptures where collected from the Mata Atlântica and the tocantinense savannah.

Zenildo brings a piece of the Park to our Fair of Latin American Arts and with it an invitation for reflection.

CAPE VERDE- A CREOLE PERSPECTIVE
The Photography of João Freire

The delicate images of this artist speak to us of the people and lands of the islands of Cape Verde, of the serene dignity which passes through the portraits of lives apparently dry, but in reality imbued with a tenderness and fascination thoroughly unique in the entire lusitanian geographic imagination. The poetry of the black and white photographs of Joao Freire is the same that transpires through all of the popular music of Cape Verde, music which he dreams of and has discretely produced during the last two decades, distinguishing him from all others, in his poetic fusion of photography, music and poetry.
