Celebração da Herança Africana - Grupo Bagunçaço e artistas convidados: Daniel Diaz, Othello Molienaux e Kwe Yao Agyapon.

O Grupo Cultural Bagunçaço, criado no final de 91, é formado por crianças e jovens dos Alagados (subúrbio da cidade de Salvador) que ao todo formam dez bandas de latas e dois grupos de dança, coordenados pelo educador Joselito Crispim, se apresentando em diversos eventos da cidade com artistas renomados como Wilson Café. O Bagunçaço também confecciona instrumentos musicais reaproveitando latas e tonéis.

Daniel Diaz, músico convidado, desde 1997 é um colaborador da Celebração da Origem Africana, que se tornou parte do Mercado Cultural Latino-Americano, no ano passado. Visando introduzir e ensinar outros ritmos africanos a percussionistas brasileiros, em 99 Daniel realizou workshops com o grupo Bagunçaço e o Ilê Aiyê de Salvador, apresentando-lhes ritmos da Guiné, Haiti e Senegal. Participou também de um espetáculo com os artistas brasileiros Mônica Millet, Robertinho e Ilê Aiyê, assim como com Kwaku Kwaaye Obeng de Gana.

.Para esta residência do II Mercado Cultural Latino-Americano, Daniel Diaz traz mais dois grandes artistas para apresentá-los à comunidade brasileira, em particular à baiana, e ao resto dos participantes deste evento mundial: Othello Molineaux, originalmente de Trinidad, é morador permanente dos Estados Unidos, residindo em Miami. Este artista e professor é lendário no tocar o forte tambor de aço de Trinidad e pela introdução deste instrumento no mundo do Jazz. Kwe Yao Agyapon, cidadão dos Estados Unidos, nativo de Barbados, é um excelente percussionista e atualmente faz Faculdade no Williams College em Massachusetts.

O encontro destes músicos convidados com o Grupo Cultural Bagunçaço possibilitará a troca de conhecimentos, informações e o desenvolvimento de habilidades com os novos instrumentos da música africana ocidental. Esta residência será também extremamente enriquecedora para o II Mercado e seus participantes, uma vez que teremos a oportunidade de ver o resultado deste encontro, em forma de espetáculo, celebrando a cultura e os povos africanos, no Pelourinho - Centro Histórico de Salvador.

Celebration of African Heritage

Grupo Bagunçaço and guest artists: Daniel Diaz, Othello Molineaux and Kwe Yao Agyapon.

Founded at the end of 91, Bagunçaço is composed of children and adolescents from Alagados (suburb of Salvador), who have formed ten tin can bands and two dance groups, coordinated by the educator Joselito Crispim. Besides performing in numerous events throughout the city and with renowned artists such as Wilson Café, Bagunçaço also produces their own instruments from recycled materials.

Daniel Diaz, guest musician, has been a collaborator of the Celebration of African Heritage since 1997, which became integrated with the Latin American Cultural Market last year. With the desire to introduce and teach other African rhythms to Brazilian percussionists, Daniel taught workshops with the cultural group Bagunçaço and Ilê Aiyê in Salvador, presenting rhythms from Guiné, Haiti and Senegal. He also participated in a performance with the Brazilian artists Mônica Millet, Robertinho and Ilê Aiyê, as well as Kwaku Kwaaye Obeng from Ghana.

For this residency during the II Latin American Cultural Market, Daniel Diaz is bringing two great artists to present to the Brazilian Bahian community, Othello Molineaux, originally from Trinidad, resides permanently in the United States and is currently based in Miami. This artist and teacher is legendary in his playing of steel drums from Trinidad and for his introduction of this instrument into the world of jazz. Kwe Yao Agyapon, citizen of the United States, native of Barbados is an excellent percussionist currently studying at Williams College in Massachusetts.

The encounter between these guest musicians and the Grupo Cultural Bagunçaço will make possible the exchange of knowledge, information and the development of new skills with new West African instruments. This residency will be enriching as well for the II Market and its participants as we will be able to witness the results of the process at a performance celebrating the culture of African peoples, in Pelourinho - the Historical Center of Salvador.
