During the Cultural
Market, a great excitement boils across Salvador:
From Campo Grande to Pelourinho, from Itapoan
to Ribeira, all over the city cultural centers,
theaters, galleries and public plazas are enveloped
by a comprehensive artistic and cultural programming.
Our headquarters are located at the Hotel da Bahia,
which houses the event’s administration,
the press room, and some of the Market’s
meetings and conferences. Just walking out from
the hotel, we meet the theaters and galleries
of Campo Grande and Vitória: the ICBA,
the Molière (Alliance Française),
the Castro Alves Theater (Main Hall, Choir Room,
and Acoustic Shell), and the ACBEU; spaces where
the majority of artistic dance, theater, music,
and visual-arts shows are concentrated. At the
Castro Alves Theater parking-lot is the Arts Fair,
a space for exchanging ideas and making business.
Come nighttime, the excitement moves to Pelourinho,
Salvador’s historic center. A lively and
extended music programming in the Tereza Batista,
Pedro Archanjo, and Quincas Berro d’Água
plazas, together with the SESC-SENAC Theater’s
programação de samba de roda, complement
the event’s artistic diversity until the
wee hours.
Going out from the city’s center we see
the Teatro do Pano, Sala de Arte Baiano, and Casa
de Angola galleries, as well as the various spaces
that host an extended cultural program running
parallel to the event.
They are street shows, exhibits, meetings, performances,
exchanges, a fair, lectures, workshops; in short,
a whole city being enveloped for a week.
